"Living in Cumbria I am surrounded by the rugged Lakeland fells, soft rolling moorland and everchanging moods of the Solway Firth. These natural environments are a constant inspiration to me.
I am inspired by and used vivid colour in acrylic based multimedia. I use the colours that I like and add to the mood of a painting and not necessarily the colours before me.
Recently I fell in love with Pastel Painting. Pastels are so versatile and I find them the perfect medium for expressing colour, light and beauty of nature. I use layers of rich tones of pastel to create my painting and to give a strong physical presence.
The use of pastel has dramatically transformed my paintings."
